Love It Or List It Vancouver: Alison & Frank

Did you happen to catch Love It Or List It Vancouver last night?? If not, you missed out BUT I’m going to share all of the fun details with you today anyway! Let’s get to it!

Alison and Frank moved into their massive home 25 years ago and over the years three of their children have fled the nest but the work to maintain this home stayed behind. While Frank considers the house and yard work therapeutic it’s starting to feel a little overwhelming for Alison.

Ps. If you want to see how the whole episode unfolds, you can watch this episode of Love It or List It Vancouver, here! Or, check out more photos of this space, here! Plus you can cruise the shopping guide for all products used in this reno, here!

I have to say, doing laundry already seems like a daunting task and for Alison, not only does she have to do it but she has to hike a mile (all uphill) throughout their home to put it away … LOL … ok, that might be a little exaggerated but it really is a LONG trek from their laundry room across the home.

Not only is the laundry room a bit of an issue but the kitchen is also worn out and coming apart at the seams,  the laundry room along with the powder room tend to see a lot of action and they are both located right beside the kitchen, which Alison feels is a total eyesore and I have to agree with that one!

While Frank is happy to stay put and keep on plugging away at the housework, it’s Alison that I have to convince so in order to do so, I have to renovate the kitchen, main bathroom, master bedroom, master ensuite and refresh the laundry room. In other words, time to get crackin!!

We decided to move the laundry room to the other side of the house which meant we gave up the renovation of the main bathroom BUT in doing so we were able to add a new mudroom and renovate the powder room which I feel was a better decision all around! This home was already so massive and so beautiful that these renovations made it look and feel so stunning!! Being that the home is so close to the water, we called in the folks at Icyene Spray Foam Insulation and Campbell Care to make this home not only stunning but as warm and cozy as possible.

We totally revamped the kitchen to make it much sleeker and functional. We gave them all new appliances, installed a beautiful waterfall island with lots of places for the kids (now adults lol) and grandkids to sit. We also gave them ample storage with two huge pantries on either side as well as huge doors that open up to the outdoor oasis! I envision their new beautiful kitchen turning into more of an outdoor kitchen in the summer months and I tell ya, it’s all things dreamy.

As I mentioned above, we ended up removing the nursery room and replacing it with their brand new laundry room, a mudroom and updating the powder room! This means no more long trek to the kitchen every time Alison needs to do laundry!! SUCCESS!! Ps. How GORGEOUS are the lights from Design Lighting in the powder room?! DROOL. They remind me of diamonds … a girls best friend!

Oooookay, now on to the master bedroom which I’m REALLY excited about. We moved their old cramped up closet and by doing so we completely maximized their view and added sliding doors so they can take advantage of the warmer months and allow that fresh ocean air to flow through their space! We also added a nice walk in closet complete with lots of storage for all of Alison’s jewelry and replaced the flooring with beautiful new tile from Ann Sacks and installed a gas fireplace insert from Valour Fireplaces!

This was one DREAMY reno, if I do say so myself. What was your favourite part?? I think I have to say mine was the kitchen … I mean you really can’t beat that view!!

Until next week!
