I actually JUST bought this linen button down dress from Urban Outfitters the other day and I’m sooo excited to get it!! Can you tell?? LOL! Ok, here we go!

1. Layer: The beauty of maxi dresses is that you can use wear them pretty much all year round. You can add a light jean jacket, bomber jacket or trench over top depending on the weather and season. Or, if you want to go for a totally different look, try adding a light tee or sweater UNDER your maxi! Layering is KEY, especially in the spring and fall months when Mother Nature can’t make up her mind on the weather! LOL!!

2. Accessorize: Dress up your maxi by adding a necklace (or layering a few of them!), earrings, bracelets or a stylish watch! Don’t forget to complete your look with your favourite clutch and sunglasses … oh, and a super-cute floppy hat or fedora! Easy right?!

3. Heels and Wedges: Forget the flip flops and toss on a pair of cute summer heels or wedges … not only do these look ridiculously cute with maxi’s but for the short girls out there like myself, these will prevent your dress from dragging on the ground and getting all dirty. The short girl struggle is REAL. LOL!

4. Sneakers: Yup. Sneakers. You’ve probably seen this look lots lately and originally thought it may have looked a little odd but these chucks are telling us otherwise. Cute, stylish and COMFY!! Win, win, WIN! I mean … how can you really go wrong with pink converse anyways?! Sign me up!

  1. My favourite maxi dress has a floral bottom and crochet top. I’ve worn it to multiple weddings by jazzing it up with jewelry, but have worn it to backyard parties, bridal showers, etc with a denim vest to dress it down.

  2. Hi Jillian! I loooved the idea about sneakers and maxis! Definitely going to try that look once the weather warms up a little. I’m also looking at ordering one of the ‘blonde’ sweaters from privilege clothing. I was wondering if you could tell me what size you and Shay are? I’m not sure whether or not to get the xs/s or the s/m. I appreciate it! Thank you 🙂

  3. I love maxis, especially with two little kids I need a dress with length — lots of bending down lol. I find a lot of them are super sheer though — what do you wear underneath? Is there something light you can wear under so you still get the flowiness in the summer? Thx! xo

    1. Yes, some of them can be SUPER sheer, I TRY to buy the ones that aren’t but sometimes it’s hard to avoid. You can wear a nude body suit or a slip underneath!! XO

    1. Sorry about the spelling, ups!I have problems to see the comment space on my mobile phone.I mean they can also make your dress smarter or more informal.Great post!

  4. I find that a lot of Maxi dresses have thin straps, so I’m going to try a jean vest this year. Also liking the sneaker idea!

  5. I’m going to try a Jean vest ovea Maxi Dress this Summer. I figured d straps on some Maxis are too thin. The sneaker idea is great too!

  6. Wonderful content, I will definitely follow these four ways to style up my maxi dresses and girls if you want to see unique collections then don’t miss the chance to visit Intershoppy.
