5 Ways To Add The Unicorn Of Spices To Your Life

Like a pretty new girl transferring to a high school mid-year, turmeric just swooped in and stole the whole damn show. Everybody is talking about turmeric as if it’s some new spice that just popped up out of nowhere, but in fact it’s been popular in India for thousands of years. So what’s all the fuss about? Besides giving our favorite Coconut Chicken Curry a tinge of color and loads of flavor, turmeric is known for it’s antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties. Recent studies have shown it boosts memory, can combat chronic pain and can help digestion. Yeah, turmeric is basically the unicorn of spices all around. Here’s five ways to incorporate it into your daily routine!carrot-ginger-turmeric-smoothieSource: Minimalist Baker

1. Start Your Morning Off With A Super Healthy Smoothie:

  1. Just FYI Tumeric should be used in the kitchen with caution because it stains – it can even stain glass and cooking utensils, so be careful not to get it on your clothes! Also maybe try a test patch of skin before using the face mask on your face since it could stain your skin? (not sure but just saying might be better to safe than sorry 🙂 )

    1. I tried it one time and it stained my skin. Luckily I wasn’t going anywhere and after some scrubbing, moisturizer and sleeping I woke up the next morning pretty much back to normal. Definitely recommend doing it when you don’t need to see anyone or go out in public, or else you will have yellow stained skin!

  2. Love my daily dose of Turmeric. I like to blend a batch of turmeric, cinnamon (also a unicorn spice), and honey and dollop it into hot water for some afternoon tea.
