How to Style a Cardigan 4 Ways

Hi Guys, Shay here from Team Jilly!!! FINALLY, I’m going to share some fashion tips with all you lovelies today!! I’ve seen all of the requests come through for more fashion posts and I’ve been wanting to share more outfit posts with you all but working behind the scenes has been EXTRA busy lately. Alas, I am so happy to be here today to show you guys a few ways of how I styled this Shop The Skinny Erinn Boyfriend Cardigan.

If you received a Jilly Box this season you would have found this cardigan in your box. If you didn’t receive a box … well, we have launched a limited quantity of these just for YOU over on the Jilly Boutique! These cardigans were co-designed by Jilly herself and were created with versatility in mind. The Erinn Boyfriend Cardigan is a shorter version of The Skinny’s most-popular design, The Erinn Cardigan. This beautiful “oat milk” cream colour is so easy to wear and style with a multitude of outfits already in your closet. I’ve put together a few different ways on how I would style it with items that I have in my closet for different seasons and different outings. I hope you love these and can take away some inspiration to style it your own way! Follow along below to see how I’ve styled them ….

1. Winter Classic

I absolutely LOVE this outfit for fall and winter. I am all for the band tees these days … I’ve paired a classic Tee with darker denim and my all-time favourite Dr. Martens that I’ve had for 9 or 10 years now (I promise I’ll share a post on how to style these soon)! Back to the cardigan, I wore this as a “jacket” last week for a coffee date and I loved how cozy, comfortable, and easy it was. I threw on this leopard headband to add a bit of “trendiness” to the outfit. I would also wear this outfit with slip-on sneakers for an easy peasy look when running out of the house (I’ve linked some cute ones below for inspiration). If it’s colder where you live, you could easily throw a winter coat over top for the cooler winter days (luckily it was pretty warm here last week).

2. Spring Casual

This was Rachelle’s favourite outfit when we were shooting the other day. Again, I could see myself wearing the cardigan styled like this throughout all seasons. I would wear it with jean shorts or a jean skirt in the summer and then throw on some winter boots in the winter. I’m the type of person that likes wearing lighter colours year-round and come September 1st I won’t be packing away all of my whites, creams, and light pinks even though they tell you to lol. I can see myself sitting outside on a patio in the spring wearing this, touring breweries during the day and then sitting by a campfire at night. It’s super versatile which is something I always strive for.

3. Business Chic

This outfit is one of my faves as I can wear it ALMOST year-round. Throw on a winter coat and some booties for the winter or pair it with some cute open-toe pumps in the spring or summer, or like I have here with loafers for the fall. Don’t be afraid to mix it up unless you live in -40 temperatures then maybe add an extra layer or two lol. I love how this cardigan dresses down the “business” look making it a little bit chicer. I also love that it acts as a blazer because I don’t know about you, but the cozier I can be in meetings the better (especially if they’re all-day meetings sitting in AC). AND this cardigan can easily be dressed up or down depending on who you’re meeting with.

4. Summertime Breeze

I cannot wait to wear this outfit every day this summer. I am definitely a sweater in the summer kinda gal but I am so particular. It has to be light enough that I’m not sweating, the colour needs to be neutral enough so that I can wear it with anything, the length can’t be too long, the list goes on, but regardless, this cardigan checks all those boxes. In Kelowna, there’s always a bit of a breeze at night, so I will definitely be packing this in my purse anywhere I go. It is the perfect cover-up over a summer dress or even paired with some jean shorts after a long day at the beach.
