Out With Bright White, In With Muted Neutrals

This year I’m all about making life EASIER. I am ridding the nick nacks and smaller pieces in my home and am investing in big simple statement pieces that are functional. I’m sure you thought you would never hear me say this but … out with bright whites and in with muted natural whites!!! I am totally loving this transition. Don’t get me wrong, I still love white and think it should be incorporated in some way … but I am taking a slight step back!!! I’m loving decorating with natural creams, creamy greys, soft whites, and muted neutrals. Bleached wood mixed with brass, gold and metals have a special spot on my canvas this year. One of my favourite decorating tips that I always go back to is using different textures. This is a great and easy way to add warmth and depth in a room … try linens, canvas, leathers and faux-furs. Mix it all together and there you have a perfect combination! Here are some ideas of where and how to start …

muted naturals1. Pouf | 2. Faux Fur Throw | 3. Beaded Chandelier | 4. Bench | 5. Table | 6. Faux Fur Pillow | 7. Linen Pillow | 8. Rug | 9. Sofa

What styles of interior decorating are you loving these days? Let me know in the comments below.

  1. Hi Jillian,

I love seeing the designs you post on the site. I know you are a fan of the whites and now the muted neutrals, but I would love to see what you would do with a darker pallet. I.e. dark brown or black furniture. Might be something fun to see on the site.
