Good morning everyone!! I’m back with another HOME TOUR!! So far, I’ve taken you through our Spare Bathroom, Leo’s Playroom and our Entryways … and today I would love to share our Spare Bedroom and Bathroom with you!! I absolutely LOVE this area of our home, a ton of thought went into this spare bedroom because we tend to have a lot of company throughout the year, especially in the summer! In our last home, we had a little casita in the backyard which everyone LOVED to stay in because it was so cozy and private but we don’t have a private guest house in our yard now so we had to make this space just as special!
We wanted this bedroom and bathroom to be private and far away from everyone else in the house so our guests could be as comfortable as possible! Having a spare bathroom right across from this bedroom was also important … we all know what it’s like when the coffee hits in the morning and you’re staying at someone’s house … and sharing a bathroom! ? Actually, the bathrooms in our home are my favourite spaces because they are each so unique and inviting in their own way!
Alright, let’s start this off by going over the little details of our spare bedroom and why I love it so much!! This room is on the lower level of our home and it has two beautiful french doors that open up onto the pool deck and covered area outside, these doors are from Plygem and the hardware on the doors in this room is from Emtek. Our pool wasn’t finished until late last summer so our guests near the end of summer were able to take full advantage of this room and this year it’ll be even better! My intention for this space was to make it feel like our guests were at their own private 4 Seasons getaway and I think we achieved this with access to the pool right off the room … nothing like a morning dip … or a late night skinny dip ?… We also created a shiplap feature wall from Woodtone to give this space a beachy feel!
I opted for wall scones from Wayfair versus bedside table lamps and I actually LOVE how they look! Typically I like to get my bedside tables form HomeSense but I always found the sizing of the ones they carry to be too small and I wanted these ones to be substantial so I searched for the perfect ones and ended up finding them at Pottery Barn, along with the bench!! I also love having extra blankets in my spare bedrooms just in case our guests get chilly, so I purchased the decorative ladder from a local store in Kelowna called Olive and Elle, leaned it up against the wall and draped the blankets over the steps to display them in a fun (and handy!) way. You can actually find decorative ladders online as well, Leo has a similar one in his room from Wayfair and it’s so cute!! The baskets in the corner are from Dreamy White Lifestyle and the mirror is from IKEA!!
The Fiddle Fig in this room is from Better Earth and Garden Centre in Kelowna, I wanted to have a real one but you can also find some great fake Fiddle Figs at Wayfair!! Less maintenance is always a plus, am I right?! LOL! The curtains were made by Q Design Centre, they are so heavy and beautiful, actually, you’ll notice that her drapes are throughout our home! The big pillows on the bed are from Cloth and Main (I’ve linked some of her pillows for you below!) and the pom pom pillow is from Wayfair! The linens are from Pottery Barn!! Both of our guest rooms have the Honeycomb Duvet Set on their beds because I love how it gives the bed that high-end hotel feel!! I also went through THREE headboards down here, and I can’t tell you exactly why I didn’t like the others, I guess they didn’t feel “right” in the space, let’s just say, I have some very happy family and friends as a result of my indecisiveness! Lol! I ended up going with the Matheney Platform Bed from Pottery Barn! I should also mention that the walls are painted in “Cloud Cover” from Benjamin Moore, the trim and baseboards are from Metrie and the lighting is from Sylvania!
Alright, moving on to the guest bathroom!! This pretty much turned out EXACTLY how I had envisioned it which makes me REALLY happy because the old bathroom was so hideous and scary and the ceilings were so low and there also used to be a terrible gross sauna in this bathroom too!! I’m so happy we decided to tear it up and start fresh!! I think it really pulled together beautifully and I personally love the white, creams and greys with the little pop of pink in this space! The vanity, faucets, and tub are from Kohler, the white quartz countertop is from Caesarstone, the mirror is from HomeSense, the wall sconces are from Wayfair and the shower curtain was made by Q Design Centre but the fabric is “Grey French Stripe” from Caitlin Wilson!
The tile in the shower is from Fireclay Tile and it’s called “Foggy Morning” and it has this gorgeous speckle in it, which I absolutely love!! I also know MANY of you are probably eyeing up the tile on the floor … isn’t it amazing?! It’s Bouquet II from the Cement Tile Shop!! Seen as how it can get a bit chilly in the basement, even in the hotter months, we made sure to have NuHeat install heated floors so keep our guest’s toes cozy!
As for the extra little details, the art hanging on the wall was from The Cross, the floating shelf was made by Carson from Urban Roots Furniture, the pink towels are from HomeSense (but I’ve linked similar ones below!), and the door hardware is from Emtek! Don’t worry … I didn’t forget to give you the details of the gorgeous pulls and the cabinet knobs above … these are both from the Precious Inlays Collection by Symphony by Schaub!!
Well, what do you think of our guest bedroom and bathroom?? Share your comments below and don’t forget to check back next week as I’ll be sharing yet another room in our house!!
