New House Inspiration

Jillian HarrisBathrooms, Decor, Home Renovations, Jill's House37 Comments

As I was walking through our “fixer-upper” the other day and looking at the installed drywall (YES!! DRYWALL!! Eeeeppp!!) I suddenly realized that I haven’t shared a blog with you about where I pulled my inspiration for this home and what images are really inspiring us!! So, there’s no better time than now to do that!!

I spent A LOT of time on Pinterest (what would we do without it?!?!) … every single time I saw an image that spoke to me, I saved it to my “New Place Lovin” board, some photos I just saved to my phone as well … trust me, there were a TON of photos to scroll through and move forward with.

Alright, enough chit chat about how I found the inspiration … let’s get to the visuals!!! Below is a compilation of my favourite home inspo images … the only question here is … where do we begin?? Lol!

Let’s start with the exterior … I absolutely LOVE the cozy, cottage look of these exteriors and it’s no surprise that the white on white is calling my name!!!

Moving on to little Leos’s Bathroom inspo! I’m BEYOND excited about this space! He’s going to have his own space to grow up with, which I’m SURE he’ll appreciate when he hits his teen years!! But for now, I couldn’t be happier to have a dedicated spot to give him a bath!! One thing you’ll notice while scrolling through these photos is … COLOUR! That’s right, it’ll be different than what I’m used to but I’m eager to see how it turns out!! Also … check out the blue Moroccan tile in the bathroom … love it!!

Another room I’m REALLY excited about is the Laundry room …. I fell for this look, how can you not absolutely love all of the storage in this room PLUS the nice big farmhouse sink?! This is also another room that MAY have a little bit of colour … I know I may have to talk to the Toronto plumbers company to repair the water issues I have first but it will definitely be worthy, I highly recommend them, but if you live in the San Bernardino area my go to plumber in San Bernardino can be found at http://www.thompsonfamilyplumbing.com/san-bernardino-plumbers/.

And lastly, some guest bedroom inspiration!! When family and friends come to visit us I want to make sure they have a nice beautiful space to chill out, I always think to myself, if I were a guest in someone else’s home, what would make me feel the most comfortable?! And that’s exactly what I start looking for, such as a cozy yet bright space and of course, a relaxing ensuite! Below are a few ideas that are running around in my head …jillian-harris-new-home-inspo-4bathroom-new-house-inspopinterest-bathroom

Last but not least … my STORAGE INSPO!!! Seriously, you might think I’m weird but the thought of a home with a ton of storage makes me ridiculously giddy!! I like the fact that I don’t have to fight for space to store things such as jackets and boots and baking goods … oh man … I. CAN’T. WAIT.

There you have it! A little glimpse into my heart and future home … I can’t WAIT to give all of you an update on the progress, things are looking MUCH different than when I shared the “Jillian & Justin’s New Project” blog with you!! If you missed it and are curious to know what we started out with, take a look at it here!!

Stay tuned for more … until then, I’ll keep reminding myself that Rome wasn’t built in a day … LOL!!

xo

    That pantry!!! Swoon!!!!

  • Voice of Reason  •

No question, storage is key! Can’t wait to see what you come up with. Have been contemplating blue tile myself.

  • Janice Forsyth  •

Oh good lord….that pantry is AMAZEBALLS!!!
Ha! That’s the first word that came to mind!

  • Wow Jillian, can’t wait to see the end of the project to see how it all comes together. I am living in my dream home and have lots of storage and it’s amazing to have a place for everything and no clutter!

  • Beautiful, everthing is beautiful. Thank you for sharing.

  • Brooke Coady  •

I’m dying to know what color your kitchen cabinets will be!!

  • Angel A. Fard  •

Beautiful choices. I can tell that you are a blue and white kind of gal…I am too. I love decorating with those colors – I guess because it feels so clean and crisp!

  • Absolutely stunning

  • Candice Heywood  •

Thank-you for the inspiration, Jillian. We’re starting to build our house soon and I need all the help I can get. 😉

I would LOVE to see your inspiration for furniture/decor in the living and dining room? Are you going for color or staying with a more neutral palate? I love , love , love your style and I’m in the middle of my own little re-design so please share:) ?

Where did you buy the door for your pantry? What is its name/ref #? Thank, Jillian.

  • Jillian- ,

Whoever said those horrible things are morons – I love and look forward to your daily Instagram s, your Leo and new house update and your wonderful upbeat personality! JD Scott talks a lot about the negative morons that post hate on social media and the best you can do is ignore them. It’s like us regular folks dealing with a nasty boss or co-worker – know how many people care and look forward to seeing your happy face (and your beautiful boy Leo) every day! We met once on the cruise – broken toe buddies and you are wonderful and it makes me sad to see you sad 🙁 please know there are so many more that care then those few idiots

    • Natasha  •

Please don’t cry, my daughter and I watch you every day and love you guys. People only hate cause they are jealous!

  • Melissa  •

You are an amazing human! You are such an inspiration to so many people, including myself. I follow you on Instagram and I always look forward to watching your stories. Don’t let the hurtful things people say get the better of you. You’re awesome.

  • So this is the first time in my history of social media use that I have ever commented on something to give an opinion… I am usually quite reserved, but I hope you do read this one 🙂 I look forward to your Instagram posts and stories every. single. day. Especially your home reno ones as I am currently doing a major reno as well (when I saw your calcutta nuevo Caesarstone, it solidified my choice and we finally decided on our countertop and ordered it). When I watche your stories earlier today and saw you crying, it made me literally upset to think that people actually spend their time being so negative and putting that out there in the universe. Shame on them! YOU are an inspiration – not because you are a tv personality, but because you are very clearly a person who cares and loves others, a person who has a love and passion for what they do, and someone who prides themselves on giving back and contributing to others. Those are attributes that are the most desirable; much more so than those that focus on negativity and disrespecting others. I hope you return to social media again soon – I will miss your posts :).

Your instagram post broke my heart. I LOVE watching your posts and Love It or List It, not for your privileged life, but for your one of a kind, genuine personality and fresh, inspiring designs. Keep it positive. These people were most likely bullies since they were young and it is so sad that they feel the need to tear successful people down. Go have a glass of wine and call it a day!

      • Jane Heather  •

All these ladies are right!! I hate to see you cry at these idiot trolls. Your a special lady and don’t forget it. Your family and friends are funny and loveable. Justin is a dude and I just love little Leo. Get some deserved rest and hugs to you all xoxo

        • Heather  •

Breaks my heart to see you so sad. You are such an amazing woman and I absolutely adore you! I love your posts and insta stories and think you and your sweet family are the best! Keep your chin up and know that you are loved, admired and appreciated! ☺️☺️☺️

          • Stefanie  •

Jillian you are an amazing human being! I look forward to watching your instagram stories to see you and your little family and what you are up to!! Don’t listen to these negative people. They are only negative because they are jealous and want to make you feel bad because they feel bad about themselves. It breaks my heart to see you so sad! Don’t even give them a second thought! You are where you are through hard work and dedication! Remember that!! I hope you have a great weekend and feel better really soon!! xoxo

    • I second everything Cheryl said, I too have NEVER made a comment on any social media site. When I watched your instagram story today it made me super upset. Don’t apologize for living a ‘privileged life’, you have made yourself! You inspire others, you are constantly giving back, and you don’t deserve this. Who wouldn’t be excited to be building such a beautiful home! I don’t know you, but you just emit such positivity and love, thank you for sharing what you do. I live vicariously through you 🙂 Shame on those people who think words don’t hurt. People can be totally ridiculous. Is mommas take everything to heart. I too will miss your posts. Take care love, hugs to you. Xo

Jillian I think you are wonderful. I love seeing your stories everyday. I hope you feel better soon ?

    • Sally Thompson  •

I echo everything these ladies have said. I follow you on Instagram & your sadness made me sad & I keep thinking about you & hope you’re doing ok. I totally get taking a break… life for you is a bit chaotic without having your own home right now & it takes a toll on you & your family. Hang in there, you’re a tough woman! I so enjoy following you & getting to see Leo grow up & watch you & Justin as parents. My husband & have followed you since Bachelor! Love you!

      • Nicolette  •

Jillian, you are one of the best Interior Designers that I have ever seen!

You work extremely hard for what you have. You and Leo make me smile everyday!

I check snapchat to see how your amazing house is going just because your style and taste is beyond Pinterest worthy.

        feel better, xoxo

          Jillian
You are nothing but LOVE! Shine on Sister! xO

          • Shannon S  •

Jillian–I look forward to your Instagram stories everyday and it broke my heart to see you cry. I never understand why people feel the need to bring others down when they are happy and enjoying what they have earned in life. So chin up and be proud of what you have accomplished and ignore all of the people that are obviously jealous. Come back soon! Xoxo!

  • Kara McPhail  •

I love your style….cool and classy! Could you please share with me the paint you have in your new house? I could tell from the video you posted it was a beautiful gray, but what paint was it? We are getting ready to paint and I am overwhelmed by all the grays….who knew there were more than 50 shades?!?! Thanks for your help, I appreciate it!!! Keep up the great work!!!!

    • Jillian Harris  •

Thank you Kara!! We ended up going for “Nimbus” by Benjamin Moore!! We looooove it!! XOXO

  • Thank you for sharing.I’m dying to know what color your kitchen cabinets will be.You are an amazing human

  • We just bought our second fixer upper! Cannot decide what paint color to do for my house. 2)-5 color did you choose for your kitchen and living room walls? I need some more inspiration, as the last house color I didn’t love after about a month!

  • What a gorgeous home! I love how you’ve given multiple rooms a unique flavour / aesthetic, but also ensured everything is consistent! Each space ties in with the others, which is challenging but beautiful when excited.

Looking forward to reading more in the future!

  • I’ve designed with my husband 5 homes now in Kelowna. It gets a little easier, but the paint trends and styles make me dizzy! lol Now working on home #6. I’m choosing some different colour cabinets this time….like Benjamin Moore Hale Navy for my kitchen islands. I’m also liking Benjamin Moore Silver Gray for Laundry Room. I’m quite the “white colour” gal myself, but every once in awhile I experiment with paint. My first house for Master Bedroom I used Benjamin Moore Coveting Blue, which I loved! Pinterest is definitely my “go to” for ideas…I also appreciate you Jillian in sharing your ideas.

  • Hi Jillian
I am just new to following you and I am loving all of your posts and finding them so inspiring. I just love your style, personality and approach to life. I will be copying many of your design ideas. Many of my friends are followers so they will know where I got them from…so I won’t be able to lie. Lol. I am building a house in Blue Mountain Ontario and trying to achieve a beach house look in the summer and ski chalet look in the winter. We will also have two dogs by the time we move in. We are designing most things in white and grey so we can switch out the accent colours and small decor pieces depending on the season. I am struggling with a wood floor colour. Any suggestions? Thanks and hope your are enjoying the summer with all your boys.

Would you kindly share the manufacturer of the two white french doors featured in this post?
