Shifting Seasons: Cozy Fall Decor Faves

Morning everyone! Can you believe we’re already into the second week of September? The official start to Fall is only under two weeks away but I’ve been feeling the shift of the seasons for a while now. I don’t know if it’s just me but I feel as though I felt a slight chill in the air starting to happen near the end of August and it’s just become stronger since. While I’m always sad to say goodbye to the warm summer days, I feel as though I’m always ready to welcome the coziness of fall.

In fact, if you followed along with me over on my Instagram stories last week you’ll know that we decorated my entire house for Christmas, we had the tree up, garland on the mantle, Christmas tunes playing and a roaring fire. No, we didn’t completely skip Thanksgiving and Halloween (thought I felt like I was ready to!) … we were shooting all of the items for the upcoming launch of the Jilly Box!

At first it felt bizarre to have all of my Christmas decor up but then I immediately fell in love with the idea of cooler months cozying up by the fire. However, while it was still a little early to leave up the garland and Christmas tree, this did inspire me to leave my wreaths hanging on our front doors and keep our chunky blankets on hand. Not to mention, spend some time with a glass of wine in hand and cruise some of my favourite online stores to see what cute fall decor they have stocked up! And you guessed it … I’m sharing my favourites with you below, all 16 of them!

1. Taper Candles | 2. Matches | 3. Wreath | 4. Pillow | 5. Candle Snuffer | 6. Whitewashed Pumpkin | 7. Brass Candle Holder | 8. Metal Tray | 9. Wreath on Stand | 10. Gold Wire Basket | 11. Votive Holders | 12. Plaid Throw | 13. Tassel White Prayer Beads | 14. Coffee Table Tray | 15. Mug & Saucer | 16. Pastry Server

When it comes to shifting into seasons I find one of the easiest (and most noticeable) transitions is from summer to fall. In our home I love to swap out our light blankets for our chunky knit blankets and plaid throws, hang my favourite faux rose hip wreaths (as I mentioned above!) from Pottery Barn on our front doors (this wreath is actually on sale right now!) … and incorporate a beautiful mix of faux and real pumpkins throughout our home.

I absolutely love popping by our local orchards (here’s looking at you Davison Orchards!) and picking out a variety of shapes and sizes of white, light orange and light greenish/grey pumpkins for our home and believe it or not, this colour scheme of pumpkins don’t last long, they’re a hot commodity! In fact, a couple of years ago I had to convince them to let me purchase my pumpkins from their adorable autumn display because I loved them so much!

My favourite thing to do is to line our steps with the pumpkins, place them around our front door and style them on our island. They’re such a fun and eco-friendly way to dress up your home for fall. Not to mention, once they start to go bad, you can just toss them in your compost!

I also like to add pops of gold throughout our home during the fall and winter months, such as gold candle holders, wire baskets, and gold cutlery and serving utensils for tablescapes. No matter what the season is I always have beautiful candles lit in our home as I love the ambiance they give to a space … especially when the days are shorter and the air is crisp!

Have you started styling your home for fall?

  1. Hello I have written to you and am in a kitchen nightmare. I love everything on this site and love the pale lavender room can you share the handles and knobs company please. Mine came out so so gold and very thick looks awful on top white cabinets vs bottom hale navy island. Thank you I think the antique brass ones in the pale blue picture looks perfect to help my disaster kitchen project.

  2. Do you know where I can buy the white& pastel colored pumpkins in Calgary? It seems like nobody has heard of them here!!
