The Single Girl’s Guide to Valentine’s Day

With Valentine’s Day right around the corner love is in the air… but that doesn’t mean you have to be IN love to celebrate. Anyone who know’s me knows I love love, so naturally I’ve always loved Valentine’s Day… but I didn’t always have someone special to celebrate with which is why I wanted to share a little something I like to call ‘The Single Girl’s Guide to Valentine’s Day.’

For all the single ladies out there Valentine’s Day doesn’t have to be the most dreaded holiday of the year. It’s not just for couples doing coupley things… in fact I’ve made some lasting memories from Valentine’s Days when I was single and celebrating with my close friends. So rather than getting down in the dumps (remember it’s just one day), why not have some fun and try one of my V Day ideas below!

657d290e7dcd3e1ef1b14a335b7abded

Have Girls Night In | I LOVE a good girl’s night!!! Hanging with your besties is always a great form of therapy…. Valentine’s Day or not! And I mean, who doesn’t want to just chill out in comfy clothes, have a rom com marathon and drinking wine!? Plus you’re going to have such a good time that you’ll forget about any Valentine’s Day woes and instead be laughing about all those embarrassing stories of your ex.

…or a Girls Night Out | If you’re feeling a little more adventurous, hit the town! Find an outfit that makes you feel like the bomb dot com and grab some cocktails at a local restaurant with the girls. You can cheers to what fun, independent women you are and there’s a good chance you’ll find some single guys to flirt with!
Fun Fact: I met Justin at a local bar in Kelowna! We spent the night talking and laughing and well, the rest was history…

Treat Yourself | Everyone deserves to feel special on Valentine’s Day and that shouldn’t be dependant on a man! Spoil yourself with a massage or a mani/pedi where you can kick back and relax. Don’t have time for a spa day? Why not treat yourself to that pair of cute shoes you’ve been eyeing! Whatever it is, do something for YOU… you won’t regret it!

Go on a Date | If you’re single and looking for love Valentine’s Day is the perfect time to go on a date. You can have a friend set you up on a blind date (think of what a cute story it could be) or take a stab at online dating. I mean, what’s the worst that could happen…  a free dinner?65e67de495c0edc2cec402fe456dc389

Be Thankful | Valentine’s Day can be overwhelming if you’re single and it’s easy to want to stay home alone and eat ice cream all night but don’t forget it’s just one day… and really it’s a day about LOVE, all kinds of love. Whether it’s your family, friends, boyfriend, girlfriend, pets don’t forget to celebrate ALL the love in your life. Tell them how much you love them, send them little love notes, make them feel special and I guarantee that you’ll feel pretty special too!

No matter how you end up spending your Valentine’s Day (single or not) I’m sending you LOTS of love!!!  And if you have any other fun ideas for all the single ladies out there make sure to share them in the comments section below.

xo

I’m glad there are more like me out there! While I’m not single anymore, I used to always love Valentine’s Day even when I didn’t have a valentine. Since I was little, I loved receiving cards and candy from my friends and then as I grew up, spending time with them as well! I think your ideas for how to spend a fun Valentine’s are spot on!
